The day of the rescue, when all the beagles arrived from the east coast and were released from their carriers and were running around, finally free, Dickens was so timid and fearful, he hid under a table and did not come out at all. He would run from any gesture made towards him, not enjoying or being comforted by human contact at all.

Now, two months later, Dickens is doing fantastic! He is slowly starting to want love and give love and is settling into life as a beloved family member. He is working on leash walking. He has a long way to go, but he is gaining confidence daily.

Dickens was rescued from a pharmaceutical laboratory late last year, arriving from the east coast just a little bit before Christmas. He was a very frightened beagle, not sure what to make of life outside of a cage in a laboratory.
