Boris had an extensive surgery to remove the large masses, along with a dental procedure that included extractions. He did very well in surgery and recovered well, but still has a limp and almost no use of his front paw. 

We think he had the tumor there on his front leg for so long and it had grown so large that it damaged nerves. We’ve seen some improvement but we’re not sure yet if his leg will get better with time.

We’ve learned, though, that Boris is an amazing, resilient fellow. He is still full of life and love! Playful and sweet, and very beagle-like in his love of all things food!

Boris is a laboratory survivor, released from the lab and adopted into a family as a young dog.

Sadly, at 14 years of age, Boris was surrendered to a county shelter due to his human going into hospice care.

Boris was in very bad shape when we picked him up from the shelter and took him into our care, with a large mass wrapping around his front leg and another large mass in his groin area. Boris had trouble walking because of these masses.

Boris also has a heart murmur, terrible dental disease with at least one badly infected tooth, and several other smaller masses all over his body. 

He also has a metal object in his stomach and we’re not sure how long he has had that.
