cage to couch
Our Mission
Cage to Couch is an all-volunteer nonprofit organization dedicated to rescuing animals from laboratory testing. While we also rescue other animals who have suffered neglect, abandonment, cruelty and abuse, especially seniors and those with special medical needs, we are focused on dogs and cats in research facilities.
Founded in 2022 by sisters Mary Pryor and Liza Franzen, Cage to Couch is a foster-based rescue, working closely with our partner veterinarian and a committed and compassionate network of fosters to get these survivors out of cages in facilities and into loving homes, where they can begin their journey to health and healing in homes of their own.
At the heart of our mission is a desire for animal testing to come to an end, and we encourage everyone to choose cruelty-free personal and household products, and advocate for alternatives to animal testing in science. Our volunteers, fosters and adopters – and our survivors – are a growing army of advocates and ambassadors, spreading awareness of animal testing and changing perceptions about former research animals.
Until that day when animals are no longer used for research and testing, we work to help as many as possible have the chance to live as beloved family members, raise awareness about animal testing, and educate all to know that former research animals can have happy-ever-afters.
Our vision is a humane world where humans do not impose suffering on animals.
We strive to be a model for turning compassion into action by fostering empathy
and humane treatment for animals through rescue, education, and advocacy.
